Margaret Hammel served as Down East’s first managing editor. Dahlov Ipcar continued making art until her death, in 2017. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Portland Museum of Art, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and many others. The Possibilities of Patterns, a solo exhibition of Ipcar’s textile works, will be on view at Vermont’s Shelburne Museum from May 10 to October 19. shelburnemuseum.org
