ELIGIBILITY: This contest is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and residents of the United States, except in places where such participation is legally restricted. Employees of Down East, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and the independent judging organization, as well as their immediate family and household members, are not eligible to enter. All entrants must ensure that their submissions are original, taken within Maine, and do not infringe on the rights of any third party. Down East reserves the sole right to determine an entry’s eligibility at any time.
WINNER SELECTION: Winners are chosen by popular vote and contacted via the email address used during entry. If a winner’s notification is undeliverable and time allows, an alternate winner will be chosen. Winners might need to provide additional personal information for the awarding process. We may request original photo files for entries that have been heavily modified. The distribution of awards is contingent on receiving a sufficient number of entries.
RIGHTS: While the copyright of any Submission remains with the entrant, by participating in this Contest, the entrant grants Down East an irrevocable and perpetual right to publish the Submission without compensation and/or attribution. This permission allows Down East to use, reproduce, print, publish, transmit, communicate to the public, distribute, sell, perform, adapt, enhance, or display the Submission, alongside the entrant’s name, city, and state, for editorial, advertising, commercial and publicity purposes across all current and future media worldwide. This also includes the right to edit, adapt, and modify the Submission. To the extent allowed by law, these official rules exclude all implied conditions, warranties, and terms, whether arising from statute, general law, or customary practices.
USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: By entering the contest, you agree that your personal information, such as your name, email address, physical address, and phone number, may be stored and used for future communications about subscription offers and newsletters. You also consent to Down East sharing your information with sponsoring partners. However, entrants have the option to opt-out of these communications at any time, either by updating your preferences via the provided link, sending an email to [email protected], or calling 1-800-766-1670 ext. 420.
ADDITIONAL TERMS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Down East, the contest sponsors, and judges are not liable for damaged or incomplete entries. Down East reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest, eligibility or contest winners at any time and at its sole discretion, without providing compensation or recourse to any participant. You agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Down East Enterprise Inc., its agents, employees, contest judges, and sponsors from any claims arising out of your participation in or winning of the contest. These official rules exclude all implied conditions, warranties, and terms required by law. If any provision of these rules is found to be invalid, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining terms herein. Winners are responsible for tax obligations and income reporting. Any claims or disputes arising under or relating to this Agreement shall be resolved through binding arbitration in the state of Maine, or at another location mutually agreed upon by both parties. An arbitration award may be enforced in a court with appropriate jurisdiction.

SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, DOWN EAST INC. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
