Winners in four categories — Landscape, Lifestyle, Wildlife, and Readers’ Choice — are eligible for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including a spot on a Down East Adventures photo workshop, Down East subscriptions and swag, photography goodies, and publication in the magazine.
Submission for this year’s Reader Photo Contest are now closed! Winners will be notified by the end of November, and results will appear in the January issue of Down East.

Contest judges include Down East staff photographer Benjamin Williamson and acclaimed Maine photographers Séan Alonzo Harris, Greta Rybus, and Tristan Spinski. Judges will choose a grand prize winner and two runners-up in each of three categories: Wildlife, Landscape, and Lifestyle. Prizes in each category include:
Grand Prize: Publication, a swag bag of Down East and photography goodies, and a $500 cash prize!
2nd place: Publication, a swag bag of Down East and photography goodies, and a $200 cash prize!
3rd place: Publication, a swag bag of Down East and photography goodies, and year-long subscription to Down East!
