BEN'S PICKS

March 2018

ben_williamsonJamie Walter sent this incredible image of sunrise light on Mount Katahdin from Hamlin Peak in Baxter State Park. This is a great example of the maxim, “If you want great photos, shoot great subjects.” Jamie was lucky to get these amazing conditions, but he also put himself in the right place at the right time, and it took a considerable amount of skill and determination to get up there. Kudos to him and the rest of the group there for a backcountry skiing shoot. Look for more images to come from this epic adventure on Jamie’s Instagram account. Thanks for sharing your #mainemoments with us. Keep ’em coming.  — Benjamin Williamson, director of photography

BOULDER BEACH, ACADIA

By Colin Zwirner
Boulder Beach, Acadia National Park, Maine
I really like this image of Boulder Beach in Acadia by Colin Zwirner. It’s a fine example of a composite, taking two different photos and blending them together. Colin says, “My goal is to make an image that I find compelling and to recreate the emotion I felt while at the scene. It’s like recreating a memory.”

OCEAN STORM, OLD ORCHARD BEACH

Filmed by Ben Williamson

It was an incredible scene at high tide at the Old Orchard Beach pier on March 2!
