Stache Pag

Gentlemen, start your hair follicles. On March 29, Port City Music Hall once again hosts the annual Stache Pag, bringing together hundreds of facial hair enthusiasts to celebrate the finest moustaches on the East Coast. Competitors show off their stache by strutting down a catwalk lined by screaming fans. Each vies for prizes, ranging from “Magnum P.I.” (thick and bushy) to “1899 Maine Legislature” (curly and old fashioned). A descendant of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain entered the latter category in 2012.

Last year, organizer Nick Callanan added a twist — a Moustache Film Festival. He received entries from as far away as India and Russia and handed out prizes for “Best Stache Growth Story,” “Best Moustache Death Relationship Story,” and more. The film portion returns along with all the finest mouth brows, flavor savors, lip blankets, cookie dusters, and soup strainers in Maine.

If You Go: Stache Pag takes place at 7 p.m. on March 29 at Port City Music Hall, 504 Congress St., Portland. 207-899-4990. Purchase tickets at stachepag.com
