Online Submissions

You must enter by May 8 to be eligible.

All entries will be judged on the following criteria to determine the 15 semi-finalists:

  • Quality of recipe
  • Lobster roll sales
  • Your story – why your roll is the best!
  • You must submit a copy of your health/food license with your entry by May 8 in order to be eligible
  • Once you’ve submitted your initial application you’ll be contacted by a Down East editor to provide additional information and finalize your application

Semi-Finalists & Finalist Requirements

  • A stipend of $250.00 will be awarded to each semi-finalist.
  • You are responsible for bringing your ingredients to the event to prepare 255 lobster rolls
    • 250 sample-size rolls for the semi-final round
    • 5 full-size rolls for the final round (should you advance)
  • You are responsible for bringing your own cooking utensils and service ware/plates
  • Access to electricity and water will be provided. Rental equipment is available at cost


Semi-Finals (semi-finalists will be announced on May 15)

Competitors must have 250-300 samples of their lobster roll recipe prepared:

  • VIP guests will sample lobster rolls from the 15 semi-finalists
  • VIP guests will vote for their top 3 lobster rolls
  • The three competitors with the most votes will move on to the finals
  • Competitors are not eligible to vote


Finalists must have 5 full-size lobster rolls prepared for the judges and emcee and will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Presentation
  • Taste
