The Rural Route
The charming village of Cornish has reinvented itself as the perfect destination for a country drive.
Local Green
Don’t sweat it if your own green space isn’t bringing you bliss this year — Maine’s abundance of public gardens let you revel in horticultural masterpieces without having to dig in the dirt. Here are several places, arranged alphabetically by town, where you can enjoy lush splendor all summer long.
Castine’s Sea Change
A bitter land-use fight in one of Maine’s saltiest communities has ushered in a new era of cooperation between town and gown.
Island Hopping
Navigating the Maine Island Trail Association’s (207- 761-8225) 185 island and coastline sites spanning over 375 miles just got a whole lot easier. This membership organization provides stewardship of these public and private coastal sites and is dedicated to helping boaters enjoy them responsibly. Just this year MITA made its twenty-two-year-old paper guide available online.
