Bad Religion
Starts: Mar 29 2013 - 8:00pm
Ends: Mar 29 2013 - 11:00pm
Portland, ME 04101
Preeminent punk band Bad Religion will release their new album True North this January 22nd on Epitaph Records. In a world still brimming with rampant anti intellectualism, inequality and oppression, the band’s signature brand of sonically charged humanist dissent seems as relevant as ever. On their newest record, the storied band deliberately revisits and refines the powerful and melodic Southern California sound they helped to define on albums such as Suffer, No Control and Recipe For Hate.
Excision
Starts: Mar 20 2013 - 8:00pm
Ends: Mar 20 2013 - 11:00pm
Portland, ME 04101
Taking influence from DnB, Metal, and Hip Hop, Excision is a Dubstep artist who must be heard to fully believe. Combining the morphing bass lines of Drum and Bass, the aggressive energy of Metal, and the laid back vibes of hip hop, Excision's style is incomparable.
Minus The Bear & Circa Survive
Starts: Mar 16 2013 - 8:00pm
Ends: Mar 16 2013 - 11:00pm
Portland, ME 04101
Bristling with guitar acrobatics and infectious melodies, Minus the Bear’s fifth studio full-length album, Infinity Overhead, due August 28 on Dangerbird Records, is not only a return to form in direction, instrumentation and creation but also the band’s most aggressive and confident.
Drive-By Truckers
Starts: Mar 9 2013 - 8:00pm
Ends: Mar 9 2013 - 11:00pm
Portland, ME 04101
We knew they were pin-your-ears-back rock and roll. But the Drive-By Truckers are country, they are soul and they are rhythm and blues. It looks funny, on paper - the words country/soul mashed up like that - but maybe in the end it comes down to this one shared ethos: the harder life gets, the more clamantly it calls for art, for music, for beauty - for the slow celebration of loss or pain that is mournfully, beautifully defiant.
George Thorogood and the Destroyers
Starts: Mar 8 2013 - 8:00pm
Ends: Mar 8 2013 - 11:00pm
Portland, ME 04101
Thorogood loves quips almost as much as he loves the blues, so here's another: "Let's put it this way. Dylan has a Rolls-Royce dealership. I have a used Chevy dealership. But I'm in the business. You got it? That's all I wanted from this thing. A gig, man. And I got a gig.''
