Halifax-based Gypsophilia is a group of seven young performers whose music straddles the jazz and indie worlds. The band started in 2004 as a Django Reinhardt tribute, but soon found itself mixing gypsy jazz with klezmer, funk, classical music, indie rock, and bebop, composing original music, and selling out shows all over Canada. This performance marks the beginning of their 2013 U.S. tour.

Four concerts, August 6, 9,13 and 16 at 7:30 PM will feature contemporary and classic chamber music with world-class performers, including the Brentano String Quartet, violinist Jennifer Koh and New York Philharmonic timpanist Markus Rhoten. Works include Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat; the premiere of a work by Derek Bermel for rap, bass and percussion; Schubert's Shepherd on the Rock; Ives' Piano Trio and the Schumann PIano Quintet.

The Juanito Pascual New Flamenco Trio blends the talents and influences of 3 master musicians, creating a unique and spellbinding experience. Lead by virtuoso flamenco guitarist and composer Juanito Pascual, the styles range from traditional flamenco to music drawing on influences as diverse as Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles and J.S. Bach.. The passion and intensity of flamenco are captured in the propulsive rhythms, the lyrical and intricate compositions and daring improvisations of the Trio, all bound by a magnetic chemistry between these artists.
