Kids will combine fun and learning at Downeaster Days week-long summer programs at Penobscot Marine Museum. With different activities every day, children from five to eleven will enjoy ceramics, photography, special guests, games, a field trip, and a birthday party to celebrate Penobscot Marine Museum's seventy-fifth anniversary.

Penobscot Marine Museum has scheduled a "Spring Cleanup & Volunteer Day on May 14. Volunteers will spend the day working alongside other friendly, energetic people while helping prepare the museum for the opening of its seventy-fifth year. Breakfast and lunch will be served and participants will learn about long-term volunteer positions in many departments.

A slide talk featuring old photographs of Waldo County and commentary by local historians will be held at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Kevin Johnson, photo archivist at Penobscot Marine Museum, will present dozens of black-and-white images made from old glass plate negatives in the museum's Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Co. collection.
