Beginning June 1, Maine Potters Market displays a new collection of pots by Nancy Button. These pots reflect the joy of flight and the excitement of playing with the textures of the natural world.
Working with her favorite oak tree outside the studio, Nancy slaps a cut slab of clay against the tree, brings the impressed clay back inside, and shapes it into a vessel.

An Evening of Art auction to benefit the old Orr's Island Schoolhouse, a historic building on Route 24 in the heart of Orr's Island in Harpswell. Dozens of pieces of art in a variety of mediums will be up for bid in this fund-raising auction. Preview begins at 6 p.m., with live auction from 7 to 9 p.m. Light hors d'oeuvres, desserts, soda and wine will be served. Each spring, Barb Loken’s dad would get a special permit from the city of Minneapolis so he could bring home a small piglet. Then for the next six weeks, he would carry the pig around to different elementary schools and teach children about farm animals. He loved to show off the intelligence of the pig, which could hit several different locks with its snout in order to open its feed box. At this point, a flag would snap up that proclaimed, HOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL!

This exhibit showcases the virtuosic hand of internationally acclaimed artist Barbara Ernst Prey, recently featured on the CBS Evening News. On exhibit are 40 never before seen watercolors, dry-brush and oil paintings in which Prey continues her exploration of the Eastern and Western landscape and our complex relationship with the environment. The New York Times writes “Prey is going where icons like Rauschenberg and Warhol have gone before”.
