Salt Stories: "Panning for Gems"
Ten groups of Salt Institute for Documentary Studies students visited the Oxford County Fair in Oxford, Maine and each found their own story to tell. Part 3 looks at Frank Merrill and the enthusiasm for rocks he brings to the fair.
"Frank Merrill sets up a sluice at the Oxford County Fair every year to teach kids that no rock is a bad rock. He collects precious rocks on his own and wants to share his knowledge and passion with the next generation. The kids go home with bags full of rocks and the knowledge to look for them on their own." — Producers Manda Lillie and Mika McGinnis.
