Hosted by the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sidewalk Art Show features many high-quality artists and draws attendees from throughout the region. This year an array of artwork has been expanded to include fabric, leather, metal, and wood in addition to the traditional categories of oil paintings, watercolors, photography, and other works of art on display. The art festival is complemented by many other activities held in Winthrop, including the library book sale, church bake sales and luncheons, and numerous specials at local merchants.

Since 2003, De Temps Antan have been exploring and performing time-honored melodies from the stomping grounds of Quebec’s musical past. Using fiddle, accordion, harmonica, guitar, bouzouki, and a number of other instruments, these three virtuosos blend boundless energy with unmistakable joie de vivre.

“Figures and Faces,” the collaborative effort of Carol Wiley and HanJi Chang, began when the two artists met and shared a love of the color and form of the human body. The pieces, though completed by two different artists, share similar views but use entirely different styles of expression. A confluence of forces such as nature, form, the environment, and the human being within that environment; “Figures and Faces” is a moving presentation for lovers of all styles and media.

 The Divas of Gospel are vocalists and musicians whose purpose is to share an uplifting and life-affirming message through traditional and contemporary spirit-filled, hand-clapping and toe-tapping music. Their southern African-American music tradition has a reflective, hard-rocking, and R&B flavor.

 Imagine yourself in the center of a medieval courtyard, awaiting the glorious arrival of the king and queen. You’ll join the king, knights, minstrels, and wenches in the Great Hall, filled with magic, color, entertainment, and a menu without utensils. Fruit and alcoholic beverages will be served and available at the king’s cash bar throughout the evening.

 The New York Funk Exchange hails from Brooklyn and has been performing their original music live in the Northeast since that time. The multi-talented members of NYFE combine the roots of funk, soul, R&B, and jazz with their own unique arrangements and dynamic rhythms.
