Artisans from Mount Desert Island and throughout Maine will showcase their fine crafts in a variety of media, including jewelry, ceramics, fiber arts and more. The event is scheduled to coincide with A Taste of Bar Harbor, May 16-19, a food festival featuring Bar Harbor restaurants and cafes.

BOOKS ‘N’ BLOOMS. The Winter Harbor Public Library on Chapel Lane in downtown Winter Harbor will host its second Books 'N' Blooms Garden Tour on July 6, 2013, rain or shine, between 11 am and 3 pm. Five of the unique and striking gardens on the scenic Schoodic Peninsula will be open for you to explore and enjoy. Acadia National Park and SERC Institute staff and volunteers invite you to a fun afternoon of nature activities designed for families on the SERC campus, Saturday, April 27, from 1 – 4 pm. Learn about the environment of the Schoodic Peninsula and about the animals and plants that live there. Become a salamander sleuth, work on nature arts, play games, be an NPS firefighter, and explore the SERC campus. Get outside, get moving, and discover the nature of Schoodic.

Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Sullivan, who has played with the Paul Winter Consort and many others, taps his network of fascinating new musicians and composers to give us an evening of music and conversation like we’ve never heard before. Soprano and MPBN host Suzanne Nance, Julliard School faculty and percussionist Gordon Gottlieb, and pianist and violinist Jessica Chen, a Bay Chamber Young Star winner.

Halifax-based Gypsophilia is a group of seven young performers whose music straddles the jazz and indie worlds. The band started in 2004 as a Django Reinhardt tribute, but soon found itself mixing gypsy jazz with klezmer, funk, classical music, indie rock, and bebop, composing original music, and selling out shows all over Canada. This performance marks the beginning of their 2013 U.S. tour.
