Within walking distance of the library, town dock, and sea memorial; steps from a very large wharf and Thurston’s Lobster Pound, which serves take-out seafood dinners. The lighthouse was featured in the motion picture Cider House Rules. The 2nd floor is a study with a futon and extensive miniature-lighthouse collection and memorabilia. Three books were written at the desk in the study, including one by the owner. The 3rd floor provides a seating area and a 360-degree picture-postcard view of working Bass Harbor, with 65 lobster boats, Cadillac Mountain, and Acadia National Park.
The home is a historic building, meticulously renovated, on a quiet dead-end street. It features a large wraparound porch, a total of 10 rooms, including 3 living rooms, 2-1/2 baths, eat-in kitchen/laundry area with all new appliances, washer/dryer, and microwave and toaster ovens. Living room #1 includes a TV, gas fireplace, sleeper sofa, adjacent dining room and half-bath. The 2nd floor has #1 master bedroom with twin beds, guest bedroom with double bed, and full bath. The 3rd floor has a very large loft with 2 double beds, 1 twin bed, and a great harbor view.
