As oil prices rise, driving has become as much about finding cheap gas as driving from point A to point B. Here to help alleviate that nervous feeling of passing by one gas station in the hope the next one will be cheaper is Wright Express, a South Portland-based provider of information management solutions, with a new free app called Octane. It’s the industry’s first fuel-site locator app with up-to-date prices to help you find the cheapest gas in the area. You can use this app as you take long drives this summer, or use it like you do most informational apps: to prove you’re right about something during a dinner table argument. Either way, this app — which features text-to-speech technology that allows you to use it while driving — will come in handy during long family road trips across Maine. Octane app can be downloaded from the iTunes store or the Android Marketplace.
