What Does Beyonce Have in Common with Maine Gold?
With the sun higher in the sky, mercifully melting the foot or more of snow much of Maine has experienced per storm, a quick look at the calendar indicates that spring, or at least the vernal equinox, is less than three weeks away.
Although the snow melting off the roof sounds like sap dripping from a spile, it is still too cold for the sap to run just yet. More than likely the equinox will come and go with only a gesture in the direction of real spring. We're getting ready by digging down from the eaves to the windows encased in the drifted snow below.
To rush along spring cleaning, of a personal sort, consider trying the maple syrup cleanse. You've likely heard of this "diet" as promoted by Beyoncé Knowles on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2006. Beyoncé claims to have dropped 22 pounds in two weeks — or nearly two pounds a day. The maple syrup "diet" soon became a celebrity fad, although unlike other "fads du jour" this one has real cleansing benefits. Truly, that is the point of the maple syrup cleanse; it is a cleanse not a diet. Weight loss will occur, but it should be considered an extra benefit, not the main purpose. For an internet full of information, just conduct a Google search for "maple syrup cleanse" and surf around the hundreds of articles.
Here is our cleanse of choice:
