Maine Attributes: All 3 of these special pooches worked in Maine until their retirements. They are all retired guide dogs. They changed the lives of the visually impaired people they helped. From left, Git Ander who lived and worked in Portland and Sanford, was named in memory of 9-11 hero K-9 Git Ander killed in the line of duty. Cole is the all-black handsome boy from Augusta. Freidal, at right, lived and worked in Portland. Now all of these special pooches still spend as much time as possible with me now in Wells, where we walk the beach and sit on our family memorial bench overlooking the ocean. — Donna Hiorns
