Frankfort Rejects Wind Power
Frankfort residents, concerned over a proposal to build a four- to six-turbine wind farm on top of Mount Waldo, passed an ordinance that creates significant restrictions and strict limits on allowable turbine noise levels. It's the first land-use ordinance passed by the town, and, according to New-Hampshire basd Eolian Renewable, it essentially bans wind power projects in the area. The months-long debate resulted in a turnout of over half the town of 900, with the winning side edging out those in favor of the wind power project by just twenty-two votes.
