Hunter Kills Rare Black Deer
A 14-year-old boy from Anson has shot a black white-tailed deer, an animal described as "incredibly rare" by state deer and moose biologist Lee Kantar.
Each year Mainers shoot several white piebald deer, which represent less than 1 percent of the total deer harvest. Black deer are even more scarce.
"Albino deer are bad luck," the young hunter, Levi Murray, said. "I think this should mean good luck."
