Maine Movie at Cannes

Michael Panenka and Ben Kahn are bringing their five-minute short film, “A Brief Case of Love,” to the French Riviera. The Maine filmmakers were selected through the 48-hour Film Project International Shootout, a national competition that requires movies to be scripted and shot in two days. The film is set in Maine and was shot on location, and the duo is hoping to publicize Maine as a potential filming hub on their trip. The only hurdle: legislation for tax incentives (a bill is currently in front of the Legislature’s Taxation Committee), the lack of which is holding Maine back according to Panenka and Kahn.
