Kegs and Cuffs at Colby
In the wee hours of the morning of Sunday, April 12th, three Colby students were arrested and taken to Kennebec County Jail after a reportedly aggressive run-in with campus security and Waterville Police. Ozzy Ramirez '09 and Jacob Roundtree '10 were pinned to the ground and Roundtree was sprayed with mace, according to several reports. The two students were then charged with assault and criminal trespassing. Michael Talarico '11 was later arrested and charged with failure to comply. Excessive alcohol use was also reported. [A short video of the incident can be seen here.] The arrests have spurred a campus-wide reaction, including the formation of a new student group, Colby United, which is pushing for continued dialog with the school’s administration about the arrests.
