Book Signing: Following the Brick Path, the Story of Rowantrees Pottery
This lavishly illustrated book tells the fascinating story of Rowantrees Pottery, founded in 1934, until the present and the current owner Sheila Varnum. Rowantrees is one of the few potteries in the country that made hand-thrown dinnerware. Varnum started working at the Pottery in 1940 and the ownership was passed on to her in 1976 by Miss Pearson's partner, Laura Paddock. This book is authored by Andrew Phelan, whose father was hired in the late 1930s to teach pottery production techniques. Mr. Phelan and Mrs. Varnum will be talking about the writing of the book.
