Angela Dufresne: Cinema Covers
Angela Dufresne’s paintings articulate the space between the cinematic/filmic experience and the day to day personal experience. The works expose the theater of reality and the reality of fiction in a constant state of cause and effect, impacting the actual identities and fictional characters alike. By combining painting sources from life, i.e. friends, self portraiture, and imagined personas, with cinematic frames in abrupt yet fluid, painterly moves, the works depict the process of life mimicking media and media mimicking life in a constant, yet unverifiable, dialog. This exhibit is presented in conjunction with the Maine International Film Festival and its MIFF ON EDGE program. Featuring innovative art, video, and film installations and performances, MIFF ON EDGE will present exciting, transmedia work that invites festivalgoers to explore the intersection of film, art, and music.
