Maven in Maine

Black Friday — the popular name for the Friday after Thanksgiving, the biggest shopping day of the year — couldn’t have come soon enough for fans of the shopping blog Maine Maven. That’s the day blogger and former Bangor Daily News shopping guru Kristen Lainsbury, and her husband, Jason, opened their new retail store, also called Maine Maven, in Orono (31 Mill St., 207-866-3557, www.mainemaven.com). This isn’t your average Maine products store. Stocked with nearly sixty product lines, all made by Maine companies, this small storefront offers a stylish collection of items ranging from home décor to jewelry. Don’t miss the many custom items available only to Maine Maven shoppers, including Sea Bags’ University of Maine “M” Totes and Chart Metalworks’ first interior locale line of its signature map jewelry. The store is open Wednesday through Friday, from Noon to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by appointment.
