From the heart of midcoast Maine we publish Down East Magazine,, and the Down East TV Channel, as well as Shooting SportsmanFly Rod & Reel, and Dispatch Magazines and their respective websites. Down East Magazine also has a sales office on Commercial Street, on the waterfront in Portland. Production Customer Service Representative

This is a full-time position that comes with a comprehensive benefits package and will be based on the coast of Maine out of the Rockport, Maine office of Down East Enterprise, Inc.

Down East Enterprise is looking for an ambitious and talented hands-on Production Customer Service Representative to work with our niche magazine brands: Down East: The Magazine of Maine, Dispatch, Shooting Sportsman, and Fly Rod & Reel and their associated online and digital platforms.

Candidate should have a proactive work ethic, a willingness to adapt in a fast-paced environment, and preferably, experience with customer service in an advertising or publishing field. The right individual will also have a basic knowledge or understanding of Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, or other commonly used applications to design advertisements or other marketing materials. Outstanding communication skills over the phone and online, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment are a must.

Senior Designer

Full time, competitive annual salary plus benefits

Down East is looking for an ambitious and talented Senior Designer to join our staff at our Rockport headquarters. This is a full-time salaried position. The perfect candidate is passionate about Maine and magazine publishing and is looking to be an essential part of a fast-paced, high-performing creative team. The job requires a highly creative mindset, an exceptional design eye, and significant, demonstrated experience in magazine design.

Day-to-day tasks will include:

• Developing visual story concepts

• Designing FOB, BOB, and features for Down East magazine

• Designing ancillary products

• Readying pages for pre-press

• Project-managing freelance designers

We are looking for someone with:

• 3 to 5 years minimum editorial magazine design experience

• An exceptional aesthetic eye

• A commanding knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and additional technologies

• A strong creative sensibility and the confidence to come up with and suggest innovative ideas

• The ability to multi-task and manage many projects at once, all while juggling various deadlines

• An active knowledge of social media, digital, and publishing trends

• A strong work ethic

• Great people skills

Travel around the state is required, as is representing the company at numerous events throughout the year. This position is not entry-level; 3 to 5 years or more of editorial magazine design experience is required.
