Boothbay Rower Wins Gold

Eleanor Logan of Boothbay, Maine was one of eight members of the United States rowing team to capture (spoiler alert!) the gold medal in the women's eight. The Boothbay resident is a part of a rowing team that has dominated for seven years. They haven't lost a competitive race since winning the world title in 2006, and won gold in Beijing in 2008. Logan was part of that team as well.

The race wasn't close either. The eight U.S. women were ahead by 2.3 seconds at the halfway point and finished ahead of Canada with a time of 6 minutes, 10.59 seconds. If you want to confirm what you now already know you can watch it on NBC tonight.

In other Maine Olympic news, those controversial Redneck Olympics in Hebron, Maine (we wrote about it in October), that got sued last year by the Olympic Committee are definitely not happening again. There is however the 'Redneck (blank)' going in on Hebron this weekend, run by the same people, with the same events, coinciding with the London Olympics.
