Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta, Patience, runs September 19-29. All the society ladies in the village are in love with two aesthetic poets but the poets are in love with Patience, the village milkmaid, who cares nothing for poetry. The young ladies’ military suitors see no point to aesthetics but give it a try to win their hearts. Things are touch and go for a while but in the end everyone lands a suitable partner, even if it is only a tulip or lily. Tickets are available by calling the box office at (207) 933-9999 or by visiting theateratmonmouth.org.

Lawrence Kasdan's 1983 big-budget variation on John Sayles's "The Return of the Secaucus Seven" finds a cluster of old college radicals - who have since gone on to sundry professions and various degrees of materialism - reuniting over the death of a friend.
During the weekend that follows, they compare their 60's ideas with the harsh reality of their lives in the 80's, and discover that in a cold world, you need your friends to keep you warm. Both playful and thoughtful, the film represents Kasdan (Body Heat) at his most astute.
