Throughout July and August, the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will be open every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for “Living History Tours”. Visitors to the site are engaged by people, dressed in period clothing, who portray a local person, someone you might have met had you visited in 1870.

Jim Drain is a Miami-based artist who creates hyperactive, chaotic art, fashion and furniture, using an abundance of materials from chains to yarn to costumes. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and was involved in the highly influential Fort Thunder community in Rhode Island, and was also a former member of Forcefield, a performance art collective who collaborated on videos, comics, totems, experimental music, kinetic sculptures covered in textiles, and more. His work has been collected by the Museum of Modern Art.

Antonin Kratochvil is a world-renowned, award-winning photojournalist and documentary photographer. Best known for his personal black and white documentary photography of Eastern Europe, his work today covers the events and personalities of the world. Czeck-born Kratochvil was the first recipient of the Eyewitness Essay honor of the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for Magazine Photography and the 1997 first prize World Press Photo winner in the Portrait Series, among many others.
