Listening Locally
This summer, pick up a copy of Greetings from Area Code 207.
If you’re in for a long car ride up the Maine coast this August, stop in at a Bull Moose Music store in Sanford, Scarborough, Portland, North Windham, Brunswick, Lewiston, Waterville, or Bangor (or go online to www.bullmoose.com or www.cornmealrecords.com) and pick up a copy of Greetings from Area Code 207 Volume 7 for some great Maine-grown music. The album, sponsored by 102.9 WBLM, is the seventh volume in the series, which features Maine acts performing everything from indie rock to blues and Cajun. Many of the tracks on this year’s album are previously unreleased and recorded specifically for this compilation, including Rustic Overtones “Light at the End” (recorded live from their historic comeback show last July) and internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne’s “Be Here Now.” Besides getting twenty-one tracks, all proceeds from the album go to renovating the St. Lawrence Arts and Community Center of Portland.
