In his first Down East book, At Home in Maine, acclaimed architectural photographer Brian Vanden Brink proved he can open the doors to wonderful houses and make you feel at home in the scene. Now Vanden Brink joins forces with Custom Home magazine senior editor Bruce Snider to take readers into 20 stunning seaside homes from Canada’s Bay of Fundy to tropical splendor in St. Barthelemy.

Snider uses his architectural expertise and his skills at gaining special insights from home owners to describe the homes, which range from the historic to the ultra-modern. Vanden Brink’s photos show that these homes by the sea are intimately linked to their seascape settings. Decks, porches, and of course windows and mirrors bring seaside vistas into the living space. Floor plans and site plans are provided for many of the houses.

Vanden Brink has been photographing architecture for more than three decades. His work has been widely featured in such publications as Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Coastal Living, Cottage Living, Custom Home, Design New England, Down East, La Vie Claire, Maine Home and Design, Metropolitan Home, New England Home, and The New York Times Magazine. His photographs have also appeared in numerous books. This is his second book. He lives in Camden, Maine.

Author Bruce Snider has spent more than 25 years designing and writing about houses. Most of his architectural work has been along the coast. His writing has appeared in such publications as residential architect, Remodeling, and Down East. A senior editor of Custom Home magazine, he lives in Belfast, Maine.
